Anti-Gay Remarks Of Lybian U.N Delegate

Written by

For a first within the Human Rights Council, the UN delegate for Lybia distinguished him by his homophobe remarks.

"Gays affect the continuation and reproduction of the human race," said the lybian delegate Ibrahim Dabbashi. It seems that he learnt the remarks of the Pope.

After Lybia overthrew Gadaffi, it joined in the Human Rights Council and its delegate said Libya "deserved to contribute with other members to the promotion of values of human rights" but, as always, there is a limit, and the delegate said gay issues "affect religion and the continuation and reproduction of the human race" indicating that Lybia would not support the Council Resolution which provides to respect gay and transgender rights.

Laura Dupuy Lasserre, the president of the Council, answered the remarks saying the council was "here to defend human rights and prevent discrimination".
