Finnish Gay Presidential Candidate Through To The Second Round

In Finland, an openly gay candidate passed the first round of the presidential elections and is now at the second round, at one step to be the new president.

Pekka Haavisto, candidate of the Finnish greens, 53 years old, in a domestic partnership, is at the second round of the presidential elections with 18.8% of the votes.

He  is confronted with a conservative, Sauli Niinisto, who remains the favorite but it seems the difference could be much less important than one could think because Finnish appreciates Haavisto.

It will however be necessary to be patient, the second round will take place on February 5th.
