Palm Desert: A Lesbian Friendly Destination

My wife and I decided to celebrate our 10 year anniversary this weekend in sunny Palm Desert, California. So while the rest of the United States is experiencing freezing temperatures, ice storms, and unprecedented snow levels, we are enjoying 75 degrees weather and sun. Boasting an international airport (Palm Springs International Airport), Palm Desert has an abundance of fine dining, spa resorts, golf courses, affordable hotels, art galleries, shopping, and gaming casinos.

We stayed at the Hilton Homewood Suites which is a great affordable option with many amenities. The rooms are spacious with their own kitchens and a living area with a pull out couch. They offer free breakfast every morning and hospitality hour with free cocktails and dinners during the weekdays. The hotel is centrally located and is walking distance to Roc’s Firehouse Grill which has karaoke 3 nights a week. If you are looking for a great spa experience, try the Miramonte Spa and Resort. The spa facilities are enchanting with an outdoor lounging area and a heated pool and spa with soothing waterfalls. The spa offers treatments, a full dining menu, a eucalyptos steam room, private showers and a vanity area.  We got to indulge in a true fine dining experience at Morgan’s in the desert at La Quinta Resort.  Chef Jimmy Schmidt  welcomes guests for dinner with Contemporary American Cuisine, boutique wines, crafted spirits, and live entertainment. We enjoyed the piano bar, in the hacienda dining room as well as the fire-lit courtyard. It was truly a dinner we will never forget. For the active person, there are numerous hiking trails and bike trails. A good hiking trail to try would be the Switchback Trail which sits on the front side of Tahquitz Canyon with a great view about 20 minutes up the trail. Don’t forget your picnic basket and a good crisp bottle of bottle of wine! The most amazing thing about Palm Desert is that it is a very gay friendly destination. If you are planning a vacation, add Palm Desert to your must do destinations.
