The new Hulu series, announced for April 26, is based on Margaret Atwood's novel and consists of ten episodes.
According to TvLine, the series follows the character of Offred (Elisabeth Moss), a handmaid who fights to survive in a male-dominated totalitarian society that was formerly part of the United States. In this frightening new world that’s light years from Stars Hollow, women are forced into sexual servitude as a last desperate attempt to repopulate a devastated world.
Ofglen (Alexis Bledel) is Offred’s fellow Handmaid and companion. Although at first, one can think that she is a pious rule-follower, loyal to the oppressive Gilead system, she turns out to be daring, subversive and totally gay.
Here's the first teaser trailer for this new series in which out actress Samira Wiley (Poussey in "Orange Is The New Black") also appears:
I am quite curious to watch this series, but I am far from being excited by the fact that Bledel plays the role of a lesbian again. Although it will mean one more lesbian character who is alive, the performance of Bledel as a lesbian had not been convincing at all in the film "Jenny's Wedding".
