2012 marks the beginning of the civil unions in 2 American states which are Hawaii and Delaware.
The first couple to enter in a civil union in Delaware was a lesbian couple, Lisa Goodman and Drewry Fennell, who underlines the importance of this union for their children:
"It is important for our children. That gives them the protection of the law and ensures them a normal help if the things turn badly."
Now, 14 states allow civil unions for gay and lesbian couples but of course, that is not worth the marriage.
