Pflugerville School District To Offer Insurance Benefits For Same-Sex Couples

The Pflugerville school district in Texas announced that it would allow gay and lesbian couples in a domestic partnership to profit from insurance benefits.

This new policy, which will come into force starting from January 1^st, is a premiere for a school district of Texas.

"We can talk about being inclusive and talk about valuing people, but if you have people in your organization who feel like you have practices that are discriminatory, then why don’t you make some of these changes that will make me feel included?" Pflugerville Superintendent Charles Dupre said.

Chuck Smith of Equality Texas added: "I think they’re doing it for the same reasons that for-profit businesses do it,” Smith said. “They’re doing it in order to be competitive in the marketplace and attract good teachers."

  I am sure Pflugerville will attract very good teachers who will have their heart set on teaching to their students the values of respect and equality.

  But you are right Sandy, one day our community will have retirement benefits and we will be recognized legally in Texas like in all United States.

  Why can't Pflugerville not attract good teachers with trational values? Next they will be wanting retirement benifits.Is Pflugerville that hard up for teachers? Read your Bible guys...I have nothing against gays, but if Texas doesn't recognize gay couples as a legal couple, why would you. GOD HELP THIS COUNTRY....
