The judges of the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals said the videotapes recording during the Prop 8 trial of 2008 should remain sealed.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the trial judge had promised Proposition 8's defenders that they would be used only within the court.

"Litigants and the public must be able to trust the word of a judge if our justice system is to function properly," the panel said.

In 2008, Judge Vaughn Walker, also said to opponents that the tapes would not be broadcast.

Ninth Circuit judge Stephen Reinhardt added documents could become public in 10 years which means 2020 for Prop. 8's recordings!
