Two bills have been introduced in Arizona to ban discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity

Senator Katie Hobbs, Representative Rebecca Rios, and Equality Arizona introduced two bills (SB1320 and HB2364) to protect LGBTQ people from discrimination in housing, employment, and public housing.

For the time being, we know that a committee must examine the bill introduced in the House before any debate and vote. But, no hearing has been scheduled yet.

If approved, these laws would provide protection on sexual orientation and gender identity. Note that these bills also cover protections for persons with veteran status.

In 2014, Arizona senators approved a bill to allow discrimination of LGBT people based on religion but Governor Jan Brewer had vetoed it.

With regard to the two bills, the current Governor Doug Ducey did not want to give his opinion. He said he was "against discrimination in all its forms."
