US Mayors Created Coalition To Press President Obama On Marriage Equality

Written by

Several mayors of large US cities formed a coalition to request from President Obama to legalize marriage for gays and lesbians.

The pressure increases around Obama.

This coalition is chaired by mayors Jerry Sanders of San Diego, Thomas Menino of Boston and U.S. Conference of Mayors President Antonio Villaraigosa of Los Angeles. Michael Bloomberg of New York, Annise Parker of Houston and Rahm Emanuel of Chicago are also part of this coalition composed of more than 80 mayors. This group says it "hopes to expand public and political support for ending the exclusion of same-sex couples from marriage."

Until now, Obama still does not support gay marriage. Will he do it before the end of the 2012 elections?
