A Chinese Court Decided To Hear A Challenge Against The Gay 'Conversion' Therapy

Written by

China could make a huge progress on LGBT rights as a court heard the first case against gay "conversion" therapy.

The trial was launched last March by a man against the Nanjing Urban Psychiatric Consultancy Centre that claims to rid people of their homosexual thoughts.

Although China no longer regards homosexuality as a mental illness since 2001, it remains very little accepted.

Remains now to know the verdict of the court. If it would be positive for us, it could contribute to the fight against the idea that homosexuality is a disease and improve the fight against these so-called therapies.
