Legislator Sandra Morán has recently announced the good news. This bill would reform the Civil Code to allow recognition of same-sex couples as a family, which is not the case at present.
"We know that people who decide to form families of this type face an adverse environment where they can be obligated to live together in secret, or face rejection by their relatives, or even the threat of violence and discrimination, so we want to give them legal support," she said.
Of course the battle is not won yet, the Conservatives will try to block this legislation or turn it into a civil union law and thus prevent the opening of marriage to same-sex couples.
