Support for marriage equality in Australia reached a new record, according to an online survey conducted by Fairfax/Ipsos.

The survey reveals that 68% of Australian voters now support the equal marriage against 25% opposition.

The latest poll, which was conducted by Fairfax Media in August 2013, showed 65% support, we already observed a significant increase from the first survey conducted in November 2010 which showed that 57% support it.

A bill was recently introduced by the Labor. According to the AFR, Tony Abbott has promised a conscience vote if that is what his party room wants. But he does not want the issue confronted and is banking on the gay marriage advocates within his ranks dropping their push when they realise the overwhelming majority of their colleagues remain opposed.
