Gambian President Yahya Jammeh: 'We Will Fight These Vermins Called Homosexuals Or Gays'

The President of Gambia Yahya Jammeh distinguished himself, once again, by his full of hatred remarks towards our community during a speech by describing us as 'vermin'.

"We will fight these vermins called homosexuals or gays the same way we are fighting malaria-causing mosquitoes, if not more aggressively," he said.

"As far as I am concerned, LGBT can only stand for Leprosy, Gonorrhoea, Bacteria and Tuberculosis; all of which are detrimental to human existence," he added.

Gambia, like Uganda, is part of the African countries where hate and repression towards the LGBT community are the most important.

Already, a few years ago, President Jammeh threatened to decapitate all gay people in Gambia before finally preferring to try to drive them away from the country.

Currently, just like in Uganda, relationships between same-gender people are sentenced by up to 14 years in jail.
