Israel To Include Same-Sex Couples In Inheritance Laws

Written by

The inheritance laws will evolve in Israel to apply to the same-sex couples.

A proposal of the Justice Minister Tzipi Livni which, according to The Jerusalem Post, changes the wording of inheritance laws, which was “a man and a woman who live as a family in a joint household” in “a couple living as a family in a joint household,” was approved.

“Inheritance laws will no longer discriminate between people in love and types of couples,” Livni said following the vote. “The law now says that the assets of the deceased go to the person with whom he shared his life, whether it was straight or gay love.”
