Lesbian To Be Nominated As Judge Within The Puerto Rico Supreme Court

Written by

Maite Oronoz Rodríguez

Puerto Rico is very far from being a gay-friendly place and yet it would seem that even in this little place of the world, the things evolve and in the good sense. Indeed, for the first time, perhaps a lesbian will become judge within the Puerto Rico Supreme Court.

Maite Oronoz Rodríguez was nominated by the government of Alejandro García Padilla. Moreover, since the election of this last, 4 pro-LGBT laws were passed like the anti-discrimination law based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

“I am conscious of the enormous responsibility which came to me,” said Maite as The El Nuevo Dia reports.

However, it is still necessary that her nomination is confirmed but LGBT groups seem more than trustful.
