In the region of Rabat-Salé, the authorities refused to allow Akaliyat to form an association, but the group decided to continue its activity. Akaliyat militates against discrimination and crimes against sexual and religious minorities. This includes the LGBT community.

Despite violence against his president and repeated harassment of his members, Akaliyat has announced its intention to continue working.

"We will continue to work, even without authorization. This is the way we worked before," a member of the collective told HuffPost Morocco.

They also said their intention to prosecute the authorities which refused to register them as an association.
