One More Step Towards The Legalization Of Marriage Equality In Taiwan

Written by

A very important step has just been taken in Taiwan to get the equal marriage.

Indeed, the Judiciary and Organic Laws and Statutes Committee has just approved the recognition of "both parties of a same-sex marriage" in the form of amendments which can be added to the Taiwanese Civil Code.

If promulgated, marriage equality would be legalized and Taiwan would become the first Asian country to legalize marriage for same-sex couples.

Let's not get carried away too fast because the road remains long. There will be many discussions and changes. As the Taipei Times wrote, this second part of the process won't start until next April.
