WikiLeaks is well known for publishing sensitive documents that may prove a good thing, but this time, it comes to personal data of people living in Saudi Arabia and in these personal information, we find especially sick children, rape victims, mental health patients and others who are LGBT, described by the government as "sexual deviance".
Homosexuality is a crime in Saudi Arabia, which can, in the best case, lead to social exclusion, but can also in the worst case, lead to prison and even death.
WikiLeaks justifies its publication, saying that it does not matter because these documents come from the government of Saudi Arabia and therefore they have not outed people.
Scott Long, an LGBT activist, described the publication of inadmissible: "You're legitimizing their surveillance, not combating it," he said.
WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange, who fled to the Embassy of Ecuador in London, declined to respond on this publication. A tweet has nevertheless been published indicating that in no case they had outed LGBT people:
"No, WikiLeaks did not disclose "gays" to the Saudi govt. Data is from govt & not leaked by us. Story from 2015. Re-run now due to election."
It's intolerable! This is not because the government has records about its population that they need to put them online! In addition, what is the point of publishing such documents? These people have done nothing wrong.
