Kim Bo-mi, 23, was elected president of the student body of one of the most prestigious universities in South Korea with 86.8% of the votes. It is true that she was the only candidate, but her application could be rejected.

During her campaign, the young student had publicly announced that she was a lesbian.

"I hope that people love themselves for who they are and live with confidence in this world. So I am telling you here that I am a lesbian," said Kim Bo-mi.

Kim will begin her mandate on December 1. She will become the first openly gay president of South Korea, a country still too intolerant towards the LGBT community.
