The City Of Takarazuka Recognizes Same-Sex Relationships

Written by

And three! A Japanese city of Takarazuka has officially recognized same-sex relationships.

Takarazuka has announced that it now recognizes same-sex relationships by providing them with a partnership certificate.

"One of the primary missions of local governments is to stand on the side of people who feel uncomfortable living in this society," the mayor of Takarazuka, Tomoko Nakagawa, said.

Certificates will begin to be issued in March 2016.

Despite this recognition in Takarazuka, and those that were already voted in wards of Tokyo, lawmakers are not yet in the same approach like Junji Koizumi, who considers the equal marriage as "a denial of Japanese values."

"Intervening in this way is bound to cause chaos in the values of our children," he wrote on his bloghe wrote on his blog.

However, these recognitions have really launched the debate in Tokyo. A recent survey showed that the majority of Japanese are in favor of LGBTQ rights.
