Two pretty women kissed, on the lips, during a mass. Yes, Joana Palhares, 18, and Yunka Mihura, 20, are original. We could smile about it because to see two women standing kissing during a religious rally, it is not very usual, but the rest is unfortunately not funny. They were arrested, physically assaulted by the police and then jailed.

Everyhting happened during a religious rally in São Sebastião in Brazil.

Two women kissed but they say that other couples followed suit and that nobody seemed to mind until Brazilian congressman and Pastor Marco Feliciano, who officiated, saw them and decided to incite the crowd of 70,000 people against these women.

He has then clearly abused of his authority as a congressman to arrest Palhares and Mihura and jailed them.

"Those two girls have to leave here handcuffed. No use trying to run, guards are headed there now. This here isn't palace where anything goes, It’s the house of God," he said into the microphone.

The event was held in a public place and according to the lawyer for the two women, Daniel Galani, there was a conflict of rights during the event.

"We see it as a situation that got completely out of control. We know there are two rights in conflict: one is the freedom of expression and the other the freedom of religious practice. The two rights are constitutional and are prescribed so that people can make use of them," he explains

And to think that Pastor Feliciano is also president of the Human Rights Commission! It sounds like a joke, isn't it?

According The Global Voice Online, at the beginning of the month, the Brazilian Order of Lawyers announced that it will request, together with more than 20 entities linked with human rights, the expulsion of Feliciano as well as Congressman Jair Bolsonaro, for inciting hate crimes.

According to the municipal government of São Sebastião, the case against the two women will be investigated by the inspectors office of the Municipal Civil Guard.
