United States Granted A Visa To A Filipino Lesbian Couple To Marry In California

Two Filipino lesbians will have passed an awesome midnight party! The US Embassy in Manila granted them a visa to be able to come to California to get married.

On December 30th, Maria Cecilia Limson Gahumana was able to marry Carla Antonio, an American citizen working in the US Navy.

The couple could not marry in the Philippines where marriage equality is not recognized and, still recently, it was difficult for a lesbian bi-national couple to come to get married to the United States.

Fortunately, the situation was unfrozen and, after 10 years of waiting including three month to prepare the necessary documents, the couple became joined in marriage.

As reports The Digital JournalThe Digital Journal, the US Embassy in Manila said it wants to educate gay and lesbian Filipinos about new visa opportunities for same-sex couples in the light of the liberalization of gay marriages in many parts of the US.
