Will Australian Senators Vote On Marriage Equality This Week?

Written by

David Leyonhjelm

The weeks are alike in Australia because two weeks ago I told you about a bill introduced by the Labor party to legalize equal marriage, which had been totally rejected by the members of the government because judged as an attempt to win over voting for the elections.

Well, this week, know that a new draft to be introduced by Liberal Democrats Senator David Leyonhjelm.

If ever the legislation was approved, marriage equality could be legalized in Australia this week, but do not get carried away.

Tuesday the government plans to ask senators clear and precise agenda of bills that will be debated and voted. Senator Leyonhjelm wants the marriage equality bill, which was written originally by the greens, especially by Senator Sarah Hanson-Young, is part of this list. And if the attempt of Leyonhjelm is a great success, well, know that the bill should absolutely be debated by the end of the week.

In addition, Leyonhjelm is sure there will be enough support in the Senate to pass the bill. It just has to be on the list.

Also adding to this list and the next vote would make a great economy in Australia because we just learned that the famous plebiscite that the government wants to organize will cost $160 million!!!
