ELLCon: the first-ever lesbian literary conference in Europe

Written by

The first-ever lesbian literary conference in Europe will take place on August 23 and 24, 2018 in the United Kingdom.

Most lesbian fiction festivals take place in the United States. They are therefore inaccessible to European writers and readers.

A group of volunteers decided to organize ELLCon, the first-ever lesbian literary conference in Europe, to develop an interaction between authors, publishers, and readers.

The conference will take place in the UK's city of Bristol on August 23 and 24, 2018. 35 renowned lesbian fiction writerswill attend the event like Clare Lydon.

“It's so exciting that ELLCon is happening—a fresh and positive space for lesbian fiction readers & writers to come together and celebrate our world," Lydon said.

"I can't wait to take part, and I hope it's the first year of many!”

One of the organizers, Dr. Zara Wood, said “the goal of ELLCon is to provide a supporting and nurturing environment for UK and EU writers and would-be writers. We hope to turn this into an annual event, attracting authors from a wide range of publishing backgrounds. It will also provide some much-needed publicity for local authors, who might otherwise be unable to make their voices heard in the global market.”
