CALL FOR PROPOSALS

Submission Deadline November 30, 2016

Lambda is seeking literary programming proposals (readings, workshops, etc.) for the events that will take place during the week (March 6-10) as well as for the Sunday, March 12 QueerLit Pop-ups. Selected events will be included in the official program guide. If you are interested in submitting a proposal, please note the following:

  • Event Description - Please be as detailed as possible and include names of participating authors, readers, workshop leaders, etc. Participants' commitments and contact information required.

  • Diversity - Priority will be given to events that reflect the racial, ethnic, gender and geographic diversity of Los Angeles.

  • Location - Although not required, we encourage proposals in *historical locations significant to LA's LGBTQ and literary history as well as locations near public transportation.

  • Time - Events should last approximately 1-1 ½ hours.

Submit your Proposal at Submittable

Further Event Proposal guidelines:

*Historical locations might include events held at actual locations (examples - ONE Archives, Wall Las Memorias, Mattachine Steps, June Mazer Lesbian Archives, MCC Church, Tom of Finland House, etc.) or at/near an important historical landmark that no longer exists (examples - A Different Light, Jewel's Catch One, Sisterhood Bookstore, The Women's Building, etc.)

*Offsite events: readings, book launches, small press parties, campus events etc.

*Pop-ups: Curate or organize an LGBTQ literary event wherever you are. Get a group together or do outreach to writer friends. Propose a reading or literary performance event that e.g. reflects your community or your neighborhood. It could be a reading built around a theme, a group poetry reading outside an historic venue, a 'Moth'-style storytelling challenge, or a slam poetry hour. Or a reading inspired by the location you choose, or an homage to a queer writer that you admire. Get creative and imaginative!

If your submission is accepted, your event will be posted on the Lambda LitFest webpage, with links on social media. Lambda LitFest can also provide you with a letter on Lambda letterhead, to use when getting permission from venues - confirming that your event is part of Lambda LitFest.

Submit your Proposal at Submittable

PLEASE NOTE: The Lambda Literary Festival will not accept commercial proposals designed to sell a product or service.
