Lambda Literary is pleased to announce the start of Lambda's Writers Retreat for Emerging LGBTQ Voices, the only queer writers residency in the nation.

Over sixty emerging writers selected from a highly competitive pool of applicants will begin their residency today to be held at the University of Southern California and hosted by Lambda Literary. This year's faculty mentors leading student workshops are Kazim Ali (Poetry), Sara Ryan (Young Adult Fiction & Graphic Novels), Cherrie Moraga (Playwriting), Justin Torres (Fiction) and Linda Villarosa (Nonfiction). This year's guest faculty are Ryka Aoki and Amy Scholder.

The Fellows come from all over the United States and some have traveled as far as Australia, England and Mexico. They will spend an intensive week working on manuscripts, attending industry and craft lectures and participating in public readings.

For the first time, the Faculty and Fellows readings are open to the public who are encouraged to meet the participants and listen to the amazing new works that will soon extend the fabric of our community's literature.
