A Bill To Legalize Equal Marriage Was Introduced In Italy

Written by

A bill to legalize equal marriage was introduced to the Italian Senate.

One spoke about it the other day, Italy does not recognize same-sex unions yet, except in some regions.

Prime Minister Matteo Renzi had however urged all representatives of regions to allow same-sex couples to marry.

A law could still make a difference. Indeed, a bill is currently before the Senate committee. Then the lower house will vote, normally this vote should take place in summer. Finally, the law could be adopted before the end of the year!

According to Ipsos and Euromedia polls, Italians are 75% in favor of a recognition of same sex unions, but just a few of them want the LGBT community access to marriage and even less think they should adopt.
