A Gay Friendly Housing Estate To Be Built In France

Written by

In Roussillon, in Vaucluse, it is a whole openly gay friendly housing estate which will be built in the next months.

It is the first time that in France one hears of a gay friendly housing estate.

The property developers Jean-Claude Jezequel and his wife Eliane thought that could be a good promotional idea.

They don't want to create a set of houses only booked to LGBT people but to promote a certain tolerance.

"It is a state of mind, the residence is simply forbidden to homophobes", Eliane Jezequel explained in an interview with radio France Bleu.

"Each one has the right to live his/her life as he/she wants it. When they (gay people) are on their terrace or in the swimming pool, there will be no eyes which will oddly look them."

The sale of the first houses already started since May 14th, the owners should be able to start to live in the houses in July.
