A Leading Militant Of The Church Of England, Jayne Ozanne, Came Out As Lesbian

One of the main activists of the Church of England, Jayne Ozanne, made a surprising announcement this week. Indeed, Ozanne is a lesbian.

Having served on the Archbishops’ Council for five years, one of the highest positions in the church in the UK, this fervent believer just taken the leadership of Accepting Evangelicals, a network of Christians who believe the time has come to move toward the acceptance of loving same-sex partnerships and a positive Christian ethic for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transsexual people, according to The Washington Post.

Following the taking office, Ozanne, 46, gave an interview to the Christian Today in which she publicly came out.

«God is a God of surprises,» said Jayne Ozanne.

«We can never be sure of what the future may bring but what I do know is that He will always look to transform our darkest hours into something beautiful.»

She quickly addressed the fact that she underwent a «conversion» therapy within the clergy:

«It was like trying to cast myself out of myself,» she said.

Fortunately, Ozanne has come to understand that her sexual orientation is entirely consistent with her religion. In 2009, she came out with her friends and she now lives totally free and proud to be a lesbian.

«I believe that was God-given in so many ways,» she said. «It is the evangelical church more than any other that needs to hear and embrace each other.»
