February 2016 Ballot: Switzerland Could Prevent Access To Marriage

Written by

I just learned that next year, Switzerland will decide on four bills, including one concerning the LGBT community.

Indeed, on February 28, 2016, the Swiss population will consider the request of the Christian Democratic Party (CVP), which wants the definition of marriage be amended to define it as a union between a man and a woman.

According to People2Power, both government and parliament are recommending a «no»-vote.

In 2005, Switzerland passed same-sex partnerships while not granting them the same rights as heterosexual married couples. This CVP's proposal makes access to these rights totally impossible.
