France Same-Sex Marriage And Adoption Bill To Come Into Effect In July

The law allowing marriage and adoption for same-sex couples in France could come into effect in Summer, President of the Laws Commission Jean-Jacques Urvoas tweeted.

The bill, which will allow same-sex couples to marry and to adopt in France, is currently considered and discussed by the Senators.

Jean-Pierre Sueur, President of the Senate Laws Commission said the work on the bill has to go thoroughly into but added that despite everything, the Senate would vote in favour of the law.

For Urvoas, the Senate will not pass the bill in its current version (around April) and will probably need a second reading (in May) which will, of course, delay its enforcement (around July).
