Poland Became A Gay-Friendly Country

Large surprise in Poland! Polish elected a gay deputy, a transgender deputy and the most gay-friendly party is third of the legislative elections.

It should be known that Poland is a very catholic country (90%) so it is really a great surprise.

The "Palikot Movement", created there is less than one year by Janusz Palikot, philosopher and rich businessman, is a party which fights against the taboos of the political and social Polish life. This party also asks to stop the financing of the Church by the State and religious lessons in public schools as well as the equality of wages between men and women. Concerning the LGBT community, it supports gay marriage and adoption by same-sex couples.

Many LGBT activists are member of this party as Anna Grodzka which became the first transgender deputy of Poland.

"I am very, very happy. It is a dream of my life wich is fulfilled and a new stage which opens", she said.

She will continue to fight for transgenders rights : "Why in a country as catholic as Spain can there be a gender law, and not in Poland?"

Robert Biedron, openly gay, was also elected deputy.

As Grodzk concludes it very well: "Today, Poland lives changes. The proof is me and Robert Biedroń".
