President Vladimir Poutine Signed The Federal "Gay Propaganda" Bill Into Law

Unfortunately, it went according to plan in Russia where the President Vladimir Poutine signed the federal "gay propaganda" bill into law.

After the approval of the House and the Parliament, there remained nothing any more but the signature of the Russian President to prohibit any public promotion of the LGBT community and, in the event of non-observance, to fine of 4,000-5,000 rubles (94-116 euros/$122-150) for people, of 40,000-50,000 rubles (935-1,169 euros/$1,216-$1,520) for officials, and of 400,000-500,000 rubles (9,354-11,693 euros/$12,167-$15,210) for companies or to sentence of prison.

During a visit in Finland, President Putin said "homosexuals are equal citizens enjoying full rights."

He then explained why this law was voted: "It’s not about imposing some sort of sanctions on homosexuality…It’s about protecting children from such information.

"Certain countries…think that there is no need to protect [children] from this…But we are going to provide such protection the way that State Duma lawmakers have decided. We ask you not to interfere in our governance."
