Rome's Court Allows Adoption To A Couple Of Lesbian Moms

Written by

The court of Rome has struck again, taking a decision in favor of a lesbian couple and their children.

Again the juvenile Court of Rome favored the well-being of children by allowing a lesbian couple to adopt each other's children when there is no law allowing adoption for same-sex couples.

Remember that adoption was part of a bill that would open civil unions, and therefore adoption to same-sex couples, but the Italians legislators have preferred to delete the part on adoption to ensure approval of the opening of civil unions for same-sex couples.

Awaiting adoption law, as there is no prohibition that formally prevents LGBTQ couples to adopt children, these parents can have recourse to justice to be recognized.

The civil unions bill should be introduced in the Italian lower house on May 9.
