Spanish Court Rejected The Appeal On Marriage Equality Law

Written by

Yesterday, the Constitutional Court of Spain studied an appeal concerning the law legalizing marriage equality requested by the conservative party. Despite a very strong pressure of the religious leaders, the Court rejected it.

By a vote of 8-3 with 1 abstention, the Court thus decided not to follow this appeal up.

After this decision, the government, by the voice of Alberto Ruiz Gallardon, minister of justice, said that he refused to change "the law and will let the legislation such as the constitutional Court validated it."
