St. Petersburg and the province of Arkhangelsk renounced to their anti “gay propaganda” laws!

Two years after adopting the anti-gay law, St Petersburg Members of Parliament have repealed it.

Of course, there is the federal law that punishes any promotion of the LGBT community, but it is nonetheless a victory.

Nikolai Alekseev, an activist for LGBT rights has been the only person to be convicted under this law when he filed a complaint with the European Court's verdict expected.

A few months ago, Arkhangelsk also repealed a similar law.

Currently, there are only two provinces where there is a regional law against "gay propaganda", Ryazan and Kostroma.
