The Episcopal Church Of Scotland Made A First Big Step Towards Opening The Equal Marriage

Written by

The Scottish Episcopal Church has just made a first big step towards opening the equal marriage.

Indeed, representatives of the church have a vote to remove a clause that states that marriage is a union between a man and a woman. Or those representatives voted in favor of the removal by a vote of 97-51, with three abstentions.

However, a second vote has to be held next year.

If this clause is deleted, the same-sex couples could be married by the church. There will be a conscience clause allowing each clergy to choose if it conducts or not same-sex marriages.
