The Faroe Islands, which are an archipelago of Denmark but have their own legislation, have approved marriage for same-sex couples.

Last year, they voted for LGBTQ people to have the right to marry. All that remained was the vote of Parliament. This one approved the law unanimously, 108-0, notably thanks to an amendment that prohibits religious equal marriages.

The first weddings will take place from July 2017.
