The Irish Senate approved the bill allowing same-sex couples to adopt.

While the referendum on equal marriage will take place in a few weeks, the Irish Senate did not wait to massively vote for the adoption by same-sex couples. Indeed, it is by a 20-2 vote that the senators made this breakthrough in LGBT rights.

The President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins would normally sign this bill into law.
