Italy still advances a little more in terms of adoption by same-sex couples since a court has formally recognized the child of a lesbian couple.

Italy does not allow the equal marriage nor civil unions and even less adoption by same-sex couples.

Last September, an Italian court nevertheless allowed for the first time the adoption of a child by the partner of the biological mother.

This week, the Court of Appeals of Turin has officially recognized a child born by insemination in Spain while mothers form a binational couple, Italy/Spain, and are divorced.
