Thessaloniki gay pride 2012

In Thessaloniki, Greece, violences have been committed against the participants of the Gay Pride.

According to the police, about 50 people threw eggs and plastic bottles of water at about 400 people holding a first gay pride parade in the northern Greek city of Thessaloniki. Fortunately, it seems nobody was wounded.

These violences have been probably encouraged by Anthimos, the senior Greek Orthodox cleric in Thessaloniki, who has criticized the Gay Pride Parade. The Associated Press reports that an annual gay pride rally is annually held in Athens, the Greek capital, and normally occurs without incident.
