This year, approximately 2.500 people marched in the Gay Pride of Tokyo which will be developed in the years to come.

This Gay Pride was organized by Tokyo Rainbow Pride, a new LGBT organization which was launched during the previous year.

The spokesperson of this organization Sayaka Kato knows well that "Japan’s awareness of sexual minorities is quite low" and cannot compete with the one of New York or London.

"I’m afraid Japan has yet to have a culture of accepting diversity," said Kato before adding to hope 50.000 participants in the Gay Pride within 5 years.
