As I told you two weeks ago, California lawmakers approved a bill to recognize a third gender. It missed Governor's signature, and there it is, we have it!
California became the first US state to officially recognize a third gender. This will allow:
To identify yourselves as non-binary on identity documents issued by the state (driver's license, birth certificates).
To ease gender and sex change processes by removing requirements such as a doctor's statement or a court appearance.
This signature which recognizes a third gender shows us that gender identity continues to gain ground towards recognition and understanding.
