The World Health Organization Wants To Stop Forced Sterilization For Trans* And Intersex People

In a new report, the World Health Organization (WHO) asks that the forced sterilizations for the trans* and intersex people be stopped.

WHO rightly estimates that this practice violates the human rights. Indeed, the trans* and intersex people can be victims of sterilization at the time of their gender reassignment. They can be constrained and forced to make it to obtain their new legal documents.

WHO indicates in its report that the consulting-rooms required “run counter to respect for bodily integrity, self-determination, and human dignity, and can cause and perpetuate discrimination against transgender and intersex person.”

It is a good thing which the WHO finally worries about the trans* people in spite of the fact that it always regards them in its guidelines as people having mental disorders, guidelines which will be changed the next year.
