As LGBT People, We Are Citizens Of The Gay And Lesbian Kingdom Of The Coral Sea Islands

Did you know that there is a gay and lesbian kingdom and that as LGBT people, we are automatically all citizens of this island?

I know it looks like an April fool, but it's quite serious. Indeed, Dale Parker Anderson founded the Gay and Lesbian Kingdom of the Coral Sea Islands in 2004 after the Australian government's refusal to legalize equal marriage. The Gay and Lesbian Kingdom is located in the Great Barrier Reef off Australia with the Cato Island in the center as you can see on the map and on the photos.

Anderson and his friends have set up a large camping area and a post office (yes, we have our own stamps) on the island that remains desert, but nonetheless turns out that this haven of peace exists, and that as a LGBT person, regardless of your nationality, you are also a citizen of this kingdom and you have the right to go there and have fun.

The national anthem of our kingdom is «Zadok the Priest» composed by George Frideric Handel that you can hear in the video below, which presents the Gay and Lesbian Kingdom.

It is true that our island is not recognized by other countries, but who cares, it's there and it's a symbolic protest against the injustices committed against LGBTQ people around the world.
