This marks the second time the harmony driven, song based, road tested all female alt country rock band is appointed cultural ambassadors by the United States Government. to tour a foreign country. They previously travelled to Israel and the Middle East to deliver a series of concerts.
Quite an accomplishment for an all lesbian alt-country rock female band that while part of the growing chorus of out voices contributing to the slow walk toward country music embracing LGBT individuals, is still up against a predominantly conservative industry.
But Antigone Rising has and continues to play a major part in LGBT advocacy.
Just a couple of years ago, they made news when Kristin Ellis-Henderson appeared on the cover of Time Magazine with wife Sarah Kate Ellis-Henderson (GLAAD President & CEO) for a feature on marriage equality; they most recently released a brand new «equality» inspired video for the single «Game Changer».
The self-described harmony driven, song based, road tested all female alt country rock band composed of sisters Kristen Ellis-Henderson (bass guitar, vocals) and Cathy Henderson (lead guitar, vocals), Nini Camps (rhythm guitar, vocals) and Dena Tauriello (drums) have established themselves, through their musicianship, hard work and just plain likeability, as a force of musical nature.
The band has grown into a veritable powerhouse that extensively tours all year long and now runs a packed promotional campaign for not just one but TWO brand new EPs: the already released «Whiskey & Wine - Volume 1» and the newly released «Whiskey & Wine - Volume 2», which dropped March 17, 2015.
