Now three years later, the video has reached the three million milestone on YouTube and is the format’s third most popular version of I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus of all time. The video is also still the only LGBT family Christmas music video on YouTube, something the couple hopes to see change.
"We both feel it's important that more LGBT parents share their family's love and unity. It is our hope that one day gay families are just referred to as families and gay weddings are just referred to as weddings" Stated LoPresti.
During its original release LoPresti and Champion, who is best known for her hit "Bi," received kudos for the video worldwide and many fans praised the couple for not washing over the fact that lesbian and gay couples can be parents and also be intimate. Something that is often minimized in other music videos.
The video which was directed by Asher Brown and chronicles a day in the life of a family during Christmas Eve who just happen to both be women. While the video is holiday themed, it pulls double duty highlighting that family love comes in all forms.
