At the ESPY Awards ceremony, the openly lesbian soccer player Abby Wambach got back on what made her most proud: women's equality in sport.

Upon delivery of the ESPYS, Abby Wambach was rewarded with an Ican Award for her amazing career in the US national soccer team and who is now retired.

During her speech, Abby got back on what made her proud, both having been an extraordinary soccer player and have brought a lot to her country through the national women's soccer team, but mostly what she could make outside of her sport:

"I wanted people to see who I was underneath the jersey and see me as a person and just an athlete." She added how proud she was to have fought for equal rights and equitable pay for women in sports.
