Lesbian English Soccer Player Casey Stoney Won't Attend FIFA World Cups In Russia And In Quatar

Written by

Casey Stoney, lesbian and captain of the English football soccer team, said she would go neither to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia nor to the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Quatar because of anti-gay laws of the two countries.

You know the anti-gay laws of Russia like the anti-gay 'propaganda' law or the prohibition of adoption by same-sex couples, but do you know those of Quatar? Well, it is not complicated, homosexuality is illegal there.

Stoney told the BBC: "I won't be going to Russia or Qatar to watch a World Cup because I wouldn't be accepted there."

She is besides surprised these two countries can organized World Cups or Olympic Games.

She added that FIFA has set the wrong example by awarding its showpiece men's events to those countries.

However FIFA expressed a light regret as for the attribution of the World Cup to Quatar. Please note that the last I heard, 145 workers died in the building of the installations planned for this Football World Cup.
