Georgia Could Ban Marriage Equality

Giorgi Kvirikashvili

Georgia (I specify that it is the European country and not the US state) could actually soon rule on the equal marriage ban in its constitution.

This is certainly the wish of Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili who announced his intention to amend the text to describe marriage as a union only between a man and a woman.

Georgia state Capitol

Two days ago I mentioned that the State of Georgia in which a bill which allowed protection of religious leaders has been passed by the House and is now heading for the Senate, the bill called the "Pastors Protection Act" poses no problem since there is no discrimination, it simply allows pastors not to be forced to celebrate same-sex marriages if they don't want to do it.

But today we unfortunately learned that a powerful Senate committee has actually mixed another bill with this act, and this addition is clearly discriminatory against the LGBT community.
